Witchbrook is a magical life sim game that got announced about 10 years ago, and has since been teased and delayed multiple times. It was originally supposed to be released in December 2025, but it got delayed once more. Now, however, it seems like things are finally getting real, as Chucklefish announced that the game will be coming out on Jan. 28, 2027.
Witchbrook got a new trailer at this week’s Nintendo Indies Showcase, and you can check it out for yourself down below.
Yeah, it still looks great. The pixel art is immaculate, and the magical life sim aspects just look absolutely scrumptious. The trailer gave us a glimpse at witch school, flying around town on a broom, making friends with fellow wizards and witches, mixing potions, and falling in love as teenagers do. Man, this looks so good. It might even be the Harry Potter fantasy sim I’ve been waiting for my entire life. Sorry, Hogwarts Legacy.
It’s really quite amazing that this got announced around the same time that Stardew Valley was just gaining popularity, and it’s somehow managed to retain its status as one of the most hotly anticipated life sim games, alongside ConcernedApe’s next project, Haunted Chocolatier. I’m feeling pretty confident that Witchbrook will finally release in January, though I’m going to remain cautiously optimistic until the game is actually in my hands and I get to create my very own witchy character. This will hold me over until Haunted Chocolatier comes out… surely.
Witchbrook is set to be released for PC and consoles on Jan. 28, 2027, including the Nintendo Switch 2.
