First Details on Margaret, Marie, & Igor in Persona 4 Revival

It’s been a while since I’ve been on the Persona 4 Revival beat. Things have been busy, I’m sorry! But I’m back on it now, as Sega and Atlus have just dropped some new details and screenshots showing off the Velvet Room denizens in Persona 4 Revival. No trailer this time, but I’m sure we’ll see much more of them in the coming months leading up to the game’s release.

Okay so first up, if you’re new to Persona in general, here’s what the Velvet Room is. It’s a space between dream and reality, mind and matter… At least, that’s what Igor would tell you. But what you really need to know is that the Velvet Room is where you go to fuse Personas so you can get stronger Personas that will help you progress through the game.

Igor serves as the master of the Velvet Room. He’s voiced by Bin Shimada in Japanese. Margaret is Igor’s assistant, and she’s voiced by Sayaka Oohara. Just like Elizabeth in Persona 3, you can do fusion quests for Margaret, which lets you progress through her Social Link as well.

Then we have Marie, voiced by Kana Hanazawa, who was a new addition to the game in Persona 4 Golden. I think the reception to Marie has been somewhat mixed, though I’m personally a fan of her character. In terms of utility, Marie will sell you skill cards, which can then be used to teach those skills to your Personas. If you don’t know anything about Persona 4, then I won’t spoil her little quirks and role in the story.

Here’s a quick rundown of how the Velvet Room works, via Sega and Atlus themselves:

“Persona fusion lets you fuse multiple Personas to create a new Persona. Personas born from fusion can inherit skills from the composite ones. On rare occasions, fusion accidents may occur, resulting in a different Persona than anticipated. Talk to Marie in the Velvet Room to buy Skill Cards that teach your Personas certain skills. Collecting a Skill Card adds it to her lineup, allowing you to purchase copies at any time. Take advantage of this once you get your hands on a powerful Skill Card. If you meet certain conditions during Persona fusion, you’ll get different bonus effects depending on the day of the week, including powerful new skills and stat boosts. Refer to the Fusion Forecast to see the required conditions and post-fusion effects.”

Nothing new here really, but it’s nice to see the updated sprites!

Persona 4 Revival is set to be released for PS5, Xbox, and PC on Feb. 18, 2027. It’ll be released for Switch 2 on May 20, 2027.
