Second Banana Yosuke Hanamura Gets Featured in New Persona 4 Revival Trailer

Did you know that when I originally conceived the idea of Retcon, I wanted it to be a Yosuke Hanamura fan site instead of a games media outlet? I was talked out of it, though. Apparently it’s too niche or something, and it’d have been a surefire way of running Retcon into the ground. That ain’t gonna stop me from repping my boy though, as he’s getting a spotlight trailer for Persona 4 Revival.

First, you can check out the trailer for yourself down below:

The new trailer shows off bits of Yosuke’s story in Persona 4 Revival, some social link content, as well as some new scenes with him and the protagonist singing karaoke and getting their motorcycle licenses. That last bit was added into Persona 4 Golden as new content, allowing players to drive their scooters to Okina City for more activities, and also setting the stage for additional scenes that weren’t in the original game.

Yosuke’s original voice actor was the great Yuri Lowenthal, but as we all know, virtually none of the original English actors are reprising their roles, so Yosuke will be voiced by Paul Castro Jr. this time around. I’m not familiar with him myself, but a quick look at his IMDB page reveals that he voiced Nozomi in Persona 3 Reload, and has had roles in a ton of other video games including Death Stranding 2 and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. While I’ll always be a Yuri Lowenthal stan, I’ll admit that he does sound pretty good as Yosuke, capturing that “second banana”, best friend sidekick potential boy lover vibe. I’m only half-kidding about that last one.

In a recent interview, General Producer Kazuhisa Wada stated that Yosuke will be getting some dialogue changes to make him a little less insensitive and homophobic. I love an inclusive Yosuke, but hey Atlus, once again, I sure would pay very good money to be able to romance him instead.

Persona 4 Revival is set to be released for PC and consoles on Feb. 18, 2027.
