Amon Is an Absolute Beast in New Borderlands 4 Trailer

Borderlands 4 will give players four new Vault Hunters to play around. Ahead of the game’s September release, Gearbox is showcasing each new character in a little gameplay overview trailer. This week, we get Amon, who’s going to be absolutely perfect for folks who just want to dive in headfirst and smash things up. Sometimes, simple is better.

You can check out the gameplay overview trailer for yourself down below:

Amon specializes in melee attacks and also serving as a tank for your party who can just soak up damage like it’s nothing. His main weapon is the Forgehammer which, as the name suggests, is great for smashing enemies to bits. He can also slam it into the ground to use his Molten Slam skill, which deals Incendiary damage to foes caught in its area of effect. He can conjure of a Firewall to block enemy projectiles, while buffing ally projectiles that pass through it, or throw his twin Forgeaxes, which deal Cryo damage.

Overall, Amon is sounding like a fairly versatile character who brings a lot of utility to the table, not to mention the sheer amount of damage he can deal. Previously, we got a glimpse of Rafa, who’s more of a fast-paced rogue-style character.

Borderlands 4 allows you to team up with up to three other players, so I could definitely see parties benefiting greatly from having Amon around. After all, if everyone just wants to zip around shooting and killing things, who’s going to actually protect the team and keep them safe? This guy, obviously. Being able to deal different types of damage also seems like it could be extremely useful in niche situations, so he won’t just be relegated to filling the tank role.

Borderlands 4 is set to be released for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC on Sept. 12. It’ll be available for Switch 2 on Oct. 3.
