Check Out Rafa in Action in New Borderlands 4 Gameplay Trailer

As we barrel towards the release of Borderlands 4, Gearbox will be slowly rolling out little gameplay trailers for each of the four new Vault Hunters. This week, the spotlight is on Rafa the Exo-Soldier. You can check out the trailer for yourself down below:

Rafa clearly suits a faster play style that enjoys a mix of ranged and melee attacks. He dual-wields Arc Knives, which can be used to slice through enemies quickly. He also has Peacebreaker Cannons to help with mid-range enemies, and the APOPHIS Lance, which can be charged up to blast holes through his foes.

Of course, because this is a Borderlands game, you can complete your Rafa build with pretty much any weapon types you desire. Just like its predecessors, loot and weapons are largely randomly generated in Borderlands 4 so you’ll never know what you’re gonna get. Part of the fun is experimenting with different weapons and seeing which ones work best with Rafa, if you choose to play as him. You’ll be able to play through Borderlands 4 solo as one of the new Vault Hunters, or team up with three other players in co-op. There’s also the option for local splitscreen for two players.

Borderlands 4 will be made available on all platforms later this year, though Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford recently announced that Switch 2 players would have to wait a little longer. The Switch 2 version will release about three weeks after the other platforms, presumably because the developers need a little more time to make sure the game is optimized for Nintendo’s new console. In addition to that, digital downloads will be required even with physical copies of the game.

Borderlands 4 is set to be released for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox on Sept. 12. It’ll also be available for the Switch 2 on Oct. 3.
