The GTA VI Extended Look Will Be Netflix-Exclusive for 6 Hours

First of all, can I just say that Rockstar is pretty much the only gaming company on Earth that can get away with publishing a trailer announcing another trailer? And still have fans frothing at the mouth at basically nothing? Because that’s exactly what they’ve done once again with GTA VI. Stop it Rockstar! It’s ridiculous! And yes, I will absolutely tune in for your extended look, thank you for the heads up.

Anyway, Rockstar has announced a little something called Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, which will premiere on Netflix on Aug. 27, at 3 p.m. Eastern Time.

The video will also launch on the official Rockstar Games and GTA VI YouTube channels six hours after that, at 9 p.m. Eastern Time. It’s unclear what this video will entail, though it’s probably a safe bet that we’ll be getting a new trailer, and maybe some behind-the-scenes footage or extra details about the game’s story. When Rockstar first announced pre-orders earlier this year, fans had speculated that we’d get a new trailer then, but nothing.

With the game just four short months away from release, hype levels are through the roof, and all I’ll say is that I hope Netflix’s servers are adequately equipped to handle the flood of viewers on the 27th.

GTA VI tells the story of dual protagonists Lucia and Jason, a couple that gets into all sorts of criminal trouble, Bonnie and Clyde-style. The standard edition will retail for $80, while the Ultimate Edition will be available for $100. The latter comes with exclusive stores and cosmetics, along with what looks like gang territory missions. Rockstar drew some ire from the public by announcing that physical copies of the game will only come with a download code, though I’m sure that’ll do next to nothing to dampen sales.

Grand Theft Auto VI is set to be released for PS5 on Nov. 19.
