Over 2 Million Players Have Been Introduced to the Badassery of Silent Hill f’s Hinako Shimizu

As of April 22, 2026, Silent Hill f has officially sold over two million units in physical and digital sales. While the game may have flown under the radar for a lot of people when it first launched last September, I gotta say those are some pretty impressive numbers.

According to Konami, sales for Silent Hill f have “surpassed 2 million units in worldwide cumulative shipments”. Silent Hill f marks the return of the mainline series since, what, 2012 with Silent Hill Downpour? Yeesh. That was a rough one to end on, but what a comeback for the series!

If you’ve spent any amount of time here on Retcon, you’ll know that I may very well be the biggest advocate for Silent Hill f in the world. Alright, that might be an exaggeration. It’s a big world, after all, but I’ve gotta be up there.

Silent Hill f caught a lot of flak for not being literally set in the town of Silent Hill, opting instead for a rural Japan setting in the 70s. The spirit of the series is very much alive in this one, though, as the game deals with plenty of traumatic themes like sexism, bullying, and abuse among others. Stepping into the spotlight is protagonist Hinako Shimizu, a high school girl armed with nothing but an iron pipe who gets serious gains by the end of the story with how much and how hard she swings that thing around.

While I do agree the game is largely held back by its subpar combat, and it can be a slog having to replay it multiple times to see the true ending, I’d argue that it’s well worth the effort. And hopefully the other two million people who bought this game agree with me too. It’s a great return to form for the series and I’m genuinely excited to see what Konami does next.

In the press release, Konami also states that the Silent Hill 2 remake has surpassed six million total players. To celebrate, the Silent Hill 2 remake and Silent Hill f Dual Pack is now available on the PlayStation Store at a 40% discount.
