Octopath Traveler 0 Demo Available Now; Save Data Will Carry Over to Full Game

Square Enix has been doing this with most of their newer RPGs, and Octopath Traveler 0 is no different. Ahead of its official release on Dec. 4, Octopath Traveler 0 now has a free demo available on all consoles and PC. Players will be able to download the demo to check out the game, and once the full game is out, demo progress can be carried over and you’ll pick up where you left off.

There’s also a new story trailer out for the game, which you can check out for yourself down below:

The demo itself will cover the entire prologue section of the game. You’ll start off in Wishvale, chat with some townspeople, and soon enough, you’ll get acquainted with the three main antagonists that you’ll be hunting down after that. The demo should give you a taste of what the character creation is like, along with the combat. I don’t think you’ll be able to progress far enough to get a full party of eight characters, which is when the combat system will truly open up, but it should still keep you entertained all the same. You’ll also get a small glimpse at the town-building elements, which come into play once you get started on rebuilding Wishvale.

So far, I’ve played a good chunk of the full game myself and am enjoying how the story is progressing. That being said, I do have some complaints about how jobs work and the fact that the main party members don’t feel as fleshed out as the other NPCs you meet. Still, it serves its purpose as a comfy, traditional JRPG that also feels really well-made. I’ll have more to say in my full review when we get closer to the game’s release date.

Octopath Traveler 0 is set to be released for consoles and PC on Dec. 4, 2025.
