Mario Kart World Ver 1.1.1 Patch Notes

Mario Kart World has been out for a week now, and it’s gotten lots of critical acclaim. This doesn’t mean it’s without its flaws, though. Nintendo has pushed out Ver 1.1.1, which is available for download now.

The update doesn’t add anything new to Mario Kart World, but it does fix quite a few annoying bugs and issues. Here are the full patch notes:

  • Fixed an issue where items were no longer able to be used.
  • Fixed an issue where sometimes controls were inoperable when selecting a character and trying to start Free Roam from the “Free Roam” map.
  • Fixed an issue where sometimes the game shut down when watching replay after a race.
  • Fixed an issue where sometimes the game shut down after a race in “Online Play.”
  • Fixed an issue where rate fluctuations were sometimes displayed incorrectly in “Knockout Tour” and “Online Play.”
  • Fixed an issue where it was easy for a communication error to occur when trying to join Friends playing “VS Race” or “Battle” in “Online Play.”
  • Fixed an issue where you sometimes slipped through the wall before the finish line of “DK Spaceport.”
  • Fixed an issue where you sometimes couldn’t return to correct position after falling of the course between “Airship Fortress” and “Bowser’s Castle” while gliding.

Granted, I don’t think these issues occur all that frequently for a majority of the player base. Most of the discourse I’ve seen surrounding Mario Kart World are all about how good it is, even if the Free Roam bits might feel a little pointless. Still, it’s nice to know these bugs have been fixed. It certainly puts my mind at ease, as someone who won’t be getting Mario Kart World or her Switch 2 until June 26.

As always, make sure to press the + or – button on your Switch 2 while hovering over the game icon to check the game version, then select Software Update to start downloading the latest patch.

Mario Kart World is now available on the Switch 2.
