How to Open Blue Chests in Octopath Traveler 0

Not to be confused with the purple chests from the first game which could only be opened by Therion, the blue chests in Octopath Traveler 0 require a little bit more work. If you’re wondering how to open the blue chests in Octopath Traveler 0, here’s everything you need to know.

To open the blue chests in Octopath Traveler 0, you’ll need to progress through the Wishvale restoration quests until you complete chapter 5. Without spoiling too much about what this chapter entails, this will involve rebuilding the church in the village and restoring the blue flame. After you’ve done this, you’ll then be able to open all the blue chests you’ve probably encountered while wandering around the open-world.

It took me about 30 hours to reach this point, as the fifth Wishvale chapter has a level recommendation of around 30 to 31. You’ll be tasked with beating a pretty challenging boss too, so you’ll definitely want to take some time leveling up and making sure you’re appropriately geared before trying this chapter.

Are the Blue Chests Worth Opening?

While it can be a pain having to go back to earlier areas and dungeons to get the blue chests, it’s definitely worth your time. Most of them contain useful items, resources, and gear that could help make the rest of your journey easier. I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way to collect them all, especially in the early areas, but it could be worth doing if you’re looking to level up your weaker characters and need to visit low-level zones.

There’s still plenty of story content to get through even after you reach this point, so it’s not such a bad idea to take this time to backtrack while you can.

And that’s everything you need to know about the blue chests in Octopath Traveler 0.
