Fallout Has Already Been Renewed for Season 3 on Prime

If Fallout isn’t the very definition of TV adaptation success, I don’t know what is. Amazon and Prime have confirmed that Fallout has been greenlit for Season 3, with the Season 2 premiere set to air this December.

According to a statement released to Variety, this confirmation comes by way of Amazon MGM Studios’ global head of television, Vernon Sanders.

“We are absolutely thrilled that our global Prime Video customers will be able to delve deeper into the wonderfully surreal and captivating world of ‘Fallout.’ Jonah, Lisa, Geneva, and Graham have done an exceptional job bringing this beloved video game franchise to vivid life on Prime Video. Together with our amazing partners at Bethesda Games and Bethesda Softworks, we are delighted to announce a third season of ‘Fallout’, well ahead of the much-anticipated debut of Season Two.”

Fallout Season 2 was confirmed just days after the Season 1 finale, so it’s not entirely surprising to hear that a third season is already in the works. Still, to get confirmation more than half a year before the Season 2 premiere probably isn’t something you’d expect for your bingo card.

Amazon’s Fallout series tells a wholly new and original story set within Bethesda’s iconic universe. It stars Ella Purnell as protagonist Lucy MacLean, who exposes herself to the surface world after her Vault gets invaded by Raiders and her father is taken away. Joining her are the Ghoul (Walton Goggins) and Maximus (Aaron Moten), whjo was a member of the Brotherhood of Steel.

Lucy goes on a journey across the Wasteland to find out the truth about her father and Vault-Tec, and uncovers a corporate conspiracy in the process. Maximus and the Ghoul’s storylines get intertwined with hers as well, and Season 1 thoroughly explores all of their backstories. The season ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, as well as a tease for a potential New Vegas setting in Season 2.

Bethesda has certainly been on a bit of a roll recently. Oblivion Remastered was shadow dropped to critical acclaim, and Fallout garnered a lot of praise when it premiered last year as well.

Fallout is now available for streaming on Prime.
