AdHoc Studio Is Thinking About Doing Dispatch Season 2

Despite how good the trailers looked, I don’t think AdHoc Studio really had a second season in mind when working on Dispatch, the studio’s debut title. However, now that the game’s sold a million copies within its first 10 days, it looks like the developers are at least going to be thinking about the possibility of a Dispatch Season 2.

AdHoc Studio co-founders Nick Herman and Pierre Shorette made an appearance on The Friends Per Second podcast from Skill Up, and they were asked about what they would do next after Dispatch. At the time of writing, the studio has already confirmed that they’ll be working on a project in collaboration with Critical Role, set in the latter’s Exandria universe.

However, it also looks like things have changed a little now that Dispatch is a commercial success. Shorette stated that Dispatch Season 2 was “a question mark” before the game’s release. Now that it’s sold so well, though, Shorette went on to say the studio is “going to have to at least think about Season 2 now.”

That’s a promising response, especially for folks like me who have been absolutely hooked on Dispatch since the day it came out. While I’m all for having Dispatch be a standalone story that ends with the final two episodes coming out this week, I certainly wouldn’t say no to even more Dispatch content, as long as it’s done well. That’s the key though, isn’t it? Look at how The Walking Dead turned out after Telltale’s first season. It wasn’t bad, but it certainly wasn’t great either, and the subsequent seasons never came close to reaching the emotional heights of the first one.

Besides, Aaron Paul’s take on Robert Robertson is what’s keeping me hooked on Dispatch at the moment, and I’m not sure I’d totally enjoy a follow-up without him at the helm. But then again, I’m just an amateurish consumer. What do I know? Either way, nothing’s set in stone yet, though I’m sure we’ll have a much clearer idea of what a potential second season could look like once this series concludes.

Dispatch is now available on PC and consoles.
