Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter Will Be Released By September 2026

Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter was one of my surprise JRPG hits of the year. It also happens to end on a notorious and very cruel cliffhanger, with the story set to be wrapped up in a second game. Here’s a decent bit of news though: Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter should be released by September 2026.

According to Falcom’s latest financial report, the company is aiming to release the game within their next fiscal year. Falcom’s fiscal years end on Sept. 31 each year, so if Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter is due out by FY26, that means we should see it before Sept. 31, 2026. There’s no official confirmation on platforms yet, but considering that 1st Chapter was available on PS5, Switch 1 and Switch 2, and PC, we can expect 2nd Chapter to follow that same route too.

Trails in the Sky is a trilogy of games within Falcom’s long-running Trails JRPG series. This arc follows the story of Estelle and Joshua, two young teens who become bracers in hopes of helping their townspeople and doing good in the world. When their father goes missing while on a mission, however, Estelle and Joshua embark on a journey to find him and figure out what’s happened, and they end up getting caught up in a massive conspiracy spanning continents.

Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter is a full remake of the second game, and we should expect it to retain many of the improvements and changes we saw in 1st Chapter. This includes full English and Japanese voice acting, along with an overhauled combat system that allows you to swap between real-time and turn-based battles. The first game is a hell of a slow burn and it really takes its time with its character development and world-building. By the time you get to its final act, though, you’ll see that it’s all been worth it.

Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter is now available on PC and consoles.
