Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter Gets a Teaser Trailer in the First Game

Falcom’s popular JRPG series got its start with Trails in the Sky, which is famously a duology and requires you to play two games in order to get the full story. This week, we saw the release of Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, which is a full remake of the original game. It features full voice acting, overhauled graphics and character models, the works. There was a bit of concern about how long fans would have to wait for Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter as the first game notoriously ends on a huge cliffhanger, but it looks like we may not have to wait that long after all.

As spotted by the folks on the Falcom subreddit, once you beat 1st Chapter, you’ll be treated to a short teaser trailer showing off Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter. I’d advise against clicking on that link to watch the video, especially if you’ve not finished 1st Chapter yet, as there are tons of spoilers in there. That being said, the video does feature plenty of cutscenes and what looks like reused assets from 1st Chapter, which suggests that the game is probably well into development. With any luck, we won’t have to wait longer than a year for the next installment.

This remake is my first opportunity to properly explore the Trails series. I’ve been having a blast playing through 1st Chapter (though my time’s also been split between plenty of other review projects this month…) and while it does have its flaws, the story and characters have been more than enough to push me through. I’ll have more to say about the game once I’ve beaten it, so stay tuned for that review. And the other reviews too…

Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter is now available on PC and consoles.
