It’ll be a long while yet before we hear anything concrete about The White Lotus Season 4 but the rumor mill is already starting up. According to a report from Deadline, the HBO show may be headed to France for its fourth season.
The Deadline report cites unnamed sources, stating that The White Lotus creator Mike White and HBO have “zeroed in on France for the upcoming fourth season of the hit murder mystery comedy-drama anthology.” The report goes on to state that no hotel has been locked in just yet, though this was also the case with Season 3, which made used of multiple resorts for filming in Thailand.
It’s no secret that The White Lotus has a deal with the Four Seasons hotel chain, so there’s already speculation that the show could be set on the Cap-Ferrat peninsula on the French Riviera, the French Alps, or in Paris itself. Out of all these options, Paris seems the least likely to me, as that would put The White Lotus in a more city-centric setting, which has not been the case for the past three seasons. The show seems to prefer more rural or countryside locations, set away from big cities.
Either way, going back to Europe certainly is exciting. Season 2 was set in Italy, and that season is easily the most popular of the bunch, though I’d argue that Season 1 is still the series’ peak. Season 3 was set in Thailand and featured some pretty big names including Sam Rockwell, Walton Goggins, and LISA from Blackpink, though that’s arguably the series’ worst showing to date.
The show was created and written by Mike White, who also happened to be a contestant on Survivor Season 37. The first season of his show emerged based on White’s own experiences on Survivor, exploring themes like class divide and privilege.
The White Lotus is now available for streaming on HBO Max.
