Squid Game Season 3 Trailer Hints at Even More Violent Games to Come

Squid Game Season 2 aired on Netflix last December and while it did end on a pretty painful cliffhanger, fans were at least assuaged by the fact that Season 3 wouldn’t be too far behind. Y’know, unlike a certain other popular show that just aired… And indeed, we’ve only got a few weeks to go before Squid Game Season 3 hits Netflix.

Netflix has also just dropped the first official trailer for Season 3, which you can check out down below:

Season 3 picks up directly where Season 2 left off. In-ho, who’s been masquerading as Player 001 this entire time, finally drops the facade and goes back to his role as the Frontman just as the other Players begin their rebellion in the facility. He quashes the rebellion swiftly, and Gi-hun’s friend gets killed in the process.

Squid Game Season 3 teases the continuation of the games and also gives us a few glimpses at our returning characters. The games, in particular, continue to look pretty damn brutal. A new variation of Red Light, Green Light was teased at the end of Season 2, and it looks like it’ll be remixed with some sort of jump rope element this time around. I’m guessing the Players will have to navigate the jump rope while trying to move forward, and failing to do so will either result in them getting shot, or falling to their death.

There also seems to be some sort of maze-style game, where the Players are presented with different routes to go through in a room. This reminded me of one of the early games in Alice in Borderland Season 1, where the participants had to pick between two doors in each room. One door allows them to continue, while the other results in instant death. There were also traps in each room that served to pressure the participants into making their decisions quickly. We might see something similar in Squid Game Season 3, from the looks of it.

Finally, there’s all the drama that’s still to come. Gi-hun’s showdown with the Frontman, the interpersonal relationships between all the Players… So much drama to look forward to!

Squid Game Season 3 is set to air on Netflix on June 27.
