We’re just 24 hours away from Silent Hill f‘s early access launch and Konami has just dropped a new trailer, coinciding with the game’s review embargo lift. Before we proceed, though, I should warn you that the trailer does feature a few quick shots that may be a little spoiler-y for the story, so I’d advise not watching it if you want to go in completely fresh. Some things are better kept as surprises.
Anyway, I’m not the boss of you and you can do whatever you wanna do. So here’s the trailer, with the Japanese dub:
Silent Hill f was developed by Neobards Entertainment, and the story was written by Ryukishi07, who’s best known for working on the Higurashi and Umineko visual novels. This game doesn’t take place in the titular town like the rest of the series, and is instead set in 1960s Japan, in the sleepy town of Ebisugaoka. Our protagonist is Hinako Shimizu, who one day finds her town covered in fog and must find a way to escape with her friends Shu, Rinko, and Sakuko. Things, of course, get very weird and very intense as you continue playing.
I got the chance to play and review it myself, and gave it a 5/5, which makes Silent Hill f the very first game to get the top score on Retcon. I thought long and hard about this one and ultimately decided that, yeah, you know what? Ballsy games that dare to take risks, be different, and actually pull it off deserve to be recognized. And Silent Hill f absolutely falls into that category. We’ll have even more features, op-eds, and guide coverage to accompany the review this week, so stay tuned for that.
Silent Hill f will be available for PC and consoles on Sept. 24.
