You could probably make a case for Invincible being the best show that Prime has to offer right now, even if it’s being stacked up against something as popular as The Boys. It’s got an extremely talented voice cast and a great premise, but the one thing that’s holding it back is its animation.
Since Season 1, Invincible has been praised for its storytelling and character development but it’s no secret that the show has been slammed for its subpar animation quality. This is an issue that’s persisted through its three-season run so far, and it’s certainly not gone unnoticed by the fans. Series creator Robert Kirkman briefly addressed the issue at San Diego Comic Con this week, and stated that the showrunners are trying to hit the animation heights that the show can achieve more and more with each season.
“I will say the animation is absolutely rad,” said Kirkman. “The Conquest fight at the end of Season 3 shows where the show is going and the heights the show can achieve. We’re hoping to hit those heights more and more.”
For now, the show has been saving its best animation bits for the most important parts of the story, including the aforementioned Conquest fight. It remains to be seen whether that quality can extend to the rest of it as well.
Invincible Season 4 will air in 2026, but it was also recently announced that the show’s been renewed for a fifth season. In fact, voice recording has already been completed for Season 5, as announced through its official social media channels.
The main cast of Invincible includes Steven Yeun as Mark, Sandra Oh as Debbie, JK Simmons as Omni-Man, Walton Goggins as Cecil, Mark Hamill as Art… and honestly so many more that I could go on for ages.
Invincible is now available for streaming on Prime.
