Resident Evil Requiem Showcase Details New Collabs, Insane Zombies, & More

Capcom hosted a hefty 12-minute showcase for Resident Evil Requiem today, going over even more gameplay details for the upcoming entry in the popular survivor horror franchise. I’ll give you the breakdown with all the main points, but if you want, you can check out the video for yourself down below first:

The showcase goes over the main gameplay differences between Leon and Grace in Resident Evil Requiem. As expected, Leon is much more proficient with firearms and hand-to-hand combat. He comes equipped with an all-new hatchet to make melee combat more exciting, he can parry attacks, and he can even disarm chainsaw-wielding enemies and use it against them. About time!

Grace requires a bit more strategy and tactical planning. Her route is supposedly more survival-oriented, and she can get her hands on a special device to allow her to craft items with infected blood. She also comes armed with the Requiem assault revolver, which deals plenty of damage, but with ammo being such a limited resource, you’ll need to be strategic in how and when you use it.

An interesting thing about Resident Evil Requiem is that the zombies seem to be a little strange this time around. During the showcase, it was mentioned that some zombies can be fixated on whatever they used to do when they were still human. For example, you might encounter a chef obsessed with cooking or a singer who keeps singing. When you encounter special zombies like these, you may be able to use their habits and routines against them.

It was also announced that Resident Evil Requiem will be made available on NVIDIA’s GeForce NOW cloud gaming service. The game will also have a collaboration with watch brand Hamilton, with two watch model replicas up for sale, based on the watches that Leon and Grace wear in-game. For Leon, we have the Khaki Field Auto Chrono, and for Grace, we have the Pan Europ Automatic. Only 2,000 units will be available worldwide, though, and they’ll go on sale on Feb. 27.

Resident Evil Requiem is set to be released for PC and consoles on Feb. 27.
