Pluribus Gets a Teaser Trailer With a Phone Number You Can Call

Pluribus is an upcoming sci-fi TV series for Apple TV+ created by Vince Gilligan and starring Rhea Seehorn of Better Call Saul fame. What’s the show about? I honestly couldn’t tell you. Even after two whole teaser trailers totaling one minute of footage, there’s still a lot of mystery and intrigue surrounding the show.

But before that, here’s the new teaser trailer that’s just dropped. And yes, it’s also only 30 seconds long.

There’s no dialogue in the trailer at all, save for some onscreen text urging the show’s protagonist Carol to call a number, followed by the actual number itself. For folks residing in the US, you’ll be able to call the number and listen to a pre-recorded voice message. The message simply says, “Hi Carol, we’re so glad you could get back to us. Dial zero and we’ll get back to you.”

And when you dial zero, another message plays stating, “Please know your life is your own, Carol. You have agency!” So yeah, the teaser and the messages basically tell us nothing. For any other new show or IP, this would be super lame. But for Gilligan and Seehorn, I’m willing to cut them some slack. A lot of it, in fact.

From what we know of the show so far, we can probably guess that humanity has been infected with some sort of weird happiness virus, and it’s up to protagonist Carol to make some sort of change in society. Given the cryptic messages, we can infer that perhaps those infected with the virus no longer have agency or autonomy. We’ll have to see when the first two episodes air. In the meantime, I’ve put together a list of everything we know about Pluribus so far, for your perusal.

This isn’t the first time Gilligan and crew have used real phone numbers to tease their shows. They’d done it before with Better Call Saul, where viewers could call numbers and listen to in-character voice messages from the cast.

Pluribus will be available for streaming on Nov. 7 exclusively on Apple TV+.
