Persona 5: The Phantom X to Get an English Release in June

We saw it coming a mile away, but it’s still nice to get official confirmation. Atlus has announced that Persona 5: The Phantom X will get an English release on June 26.

You can check out the special livestream video down below:

An official website has been launched for the English version specifically, and listings on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store have also gone up.

Persona 5: The Phantom X features a new protagonist named Wonder. After Wonder wakes up from a nightmare, he meets an eloquent owl named Lefaye, and “a long-nosed man and a beauty donned in blue”. The Phantom X will see Wonder navigate the mysteries of the Metaverse and the Velvet Room, while balancing his daily life with his Phantom Thief duties.

Just like in Persona 5, players can build up life experience as a student during the day. You’ll also be able to hang out with friends, go to part-time jobs, and take part in other social activities. You’ll need to balance this with the dungeon-crawling aspect, where you’ll steal Treasures and change the hearts of the bad, corrupted adults.

In addition to that, there will also be multiplayer functionality available in The Phantom X. The game features a Guild feature, which lets players form Guilds together and interact with one another. If my experience with gacha games is anything to go by, what this means is that you can form clans with your friends and do activities asynchronously to rank up and gain more currency, which can then be used to exchange for other rewards. I wouldn’t expect co-op functions or anything like that.

We also got a look at some new screenshots from the English version. You can check them out in the gallery below:

I’m not a huge fan of Wonder’s design personally, but at least the rest of the original characters look pretty good. It’s worth noting that character designer Shigenori Soejima was involved in the project, which helps keep all the designs consistent across the board.

Persona 5: The Phantom X is set to be released for PC and mobile devices on June 26.
