Back in June, Konami unveiled Fox Hunt, a new online multiplayer mode that would be packed together with Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. I’d initially assumed that Fox Hunt would be available at launch alongside the game, but it turns out that’s not the case. Konami has just announced that the online mode will release in the fall instead.
The developers did not give any further details on when exactly it’ll be available, but considering that we’re not that far off from the fall season I doubt we’d have to wait too long.
Fox Hunt should be an exciting one to check out, especially for fans of Metal Gear Online. Players will get to engage in traditional multiplayer modes while making use of stealth and camouflage tactics to outwit each other. While I’m sure charging in guns blazing is very much a viable strategy in some cases, I’d bet good money that this mode will be far more rewarding for players who choose to employ stealth and patience instead.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a full, from the ground up remake of Snake Eater, the third mainline entry in the Metal Gear Solid series. This game doesn’t star Solid Snake, who was the protagonist of the first two games, but Naked Snake, who later becomes better known in game lore as Big Boss, and the man that Solid Snake was cloned from. The game takes place during the Cold War period, where Snake must take on a covert op to stop the Russians from launching nukes on the US, or a Metal Gear.
While series creator Hideo Kojima has come out to explicitly say he won’t be checking out the Snake Eater remake, voice actor David Hayter (the original voice of Snake) said he’d be playing it on launch day.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is set to be released for PC and consoles on Aug. 28.
