Literally from the day Capcom unveiled Resident Evil Requiem and Grace Ashcroft as lead protagonist, fans have long speculated and suspected that we might see the return of beloved series icon Leon S. Kennedy as well. Capcom, of course, denied it, though that certainly didn’t stop the rumors from spiraling out of control.
After months of keeping things under wraps, it looks like the fans were right. In a box art leak on the PlayStation Store, we see Grace front and center, along with an older and more grizzly-looking version of the star cop himself. Resident Evil Requiem will also have players return to Raccoon City for the first time since the events of the second and third games, where the city was completely swallowed up by the zombie apocalypse.

Similar to 7 and Village, Resident Evil Requiem will also allow you to play through the game from a first-person perspective. However, Requiem also gives you the option to play in third-person, which should be a welcome change for most folks. We had also previously seen the return of another beloved character in 7, in the form of Chris Redfield, who went on to serve as the main protagonist in Village. There are plenty of other returning characters Capcom could potentially tap into for future entries. For instance, I’d love to see Claire Redfield come back at some point. Or, hell, just give me a Code: Veronica remake and I’d be happy with that too.
It’s worth pointing out that Capcom is set to show off another trailer for the game during The Game Awards on Dec. 11, where we’ll likely finally get a big Leon reveal so stay tuned for that.
Resident Evil Requiem is set to be released for PC and consoles on Feb. 27, 2026.
