I Will Protect Pokemon Pokopia’s Peakychu With My Life

Nintendo and Game Freak have just dropped a new extended trailer for Pokemon Pokopia, which is set to be released exclusively for the Switch 2 in March 2026. And when I say “extended”, I mean it’s really extended. This is a 10-minute trailer packed with new game footage and plenty of details about what we can expect from this Pokemon life sim game.

You can check out the new Pokemon Pokopia trailer for yourself down below:

The trailer gives us a look at the overworld, as well as a glimpse of the habitats and Pokemon loves you can learn. For instance, setting up a fishing rod and a chair near a body of water will cause a Magikarp to show up. Ditto can also transform into different Pokemon such as Lapras, which would allow you to swim over those bodies of water. Needless to say, every Pokemon you transform into will have that signature derpy Ditto face.

Because this is a life sim game, there are also crafting mechanics to learn. You’ll be able to build things like roads, streetlights, and homes to help make the Pokemon more comfortable. There are requests that you can accept from the Pokemon you find there, and some requests will be crucial to progressing through the game and unlocking more things to craft.

Finally, the trailer also gave us a brief glimpse at new Pokemon variants, including Peakychu, Mosslax, and Smearguru. Mosslax is basically a Snorlax with moss growing all over its head, while Smearguru is a Smeargle with colors splattered all over its body, making it look like a painter. Peakychu, though, is a Pikachu with drooping ears and is a light grey color instead of its signature yellow.

I’m not gonna lie. I was already gonna buy Pokemon Pokopia on day one, but Peakychu’s design has basically cemented that decision for me. All we know is that these mysterious new Pokemon variants will appear in the game in some form, but their origins are unknown.

Pokemon Pokopia is set to be released for the Switch 2 on March 5, 2026.
