How to Beat The Boss in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

After going through the entire game getting your ass handed to you by The Boss, it all comes down to this. This is the final boss encounter and it can be the most challenging of the bunch, especially if you don’t know what you’re doing. Here’s how to beat The Boss in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater The Boss Guide

I’d recommend finishing this fight non-lethally, as you’ll be rewarded with one of the very best camos of the game if you manage to do so. Defeating The Boss in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater requires you to recall the basics of CQC. While you could just go in guns blazing, you’ll have a much tougher time doing so. Personally, I like doing the fight with a mixture of CQC and the Mk22 tranquilizer gun for the non-lethal route, and I’ll go over my strategy below.

How to Beat The Boss With CQC

The Boss has two primary moves: CQC, and firing the Patriot machine gun at Snake. The latter is easily dodged, as you can hide behind the trees to avoid the bullets. The former, however, is unavoidable because The Boss just moves that much faster than you.

Whenever The Boss says something like “Here I come!” or “Let’s see what you’re made of!” look out for her as she’ll start charging straight at you. To counter this, run towards her and press and hold the R2 button just as you make contact with her to have Snake punch and disorient her. Immediately after doing so, you’ll have just one second to follow up with another CQC attack by holding R2, where Snake will slam her to the ground. This does quite a bit of stamina damage, and it’s entirely possible to beat the entire fight this way.

I found that I had a lot more success running towards her and holding the R2 button, than I did waiting for her to come to me and reacting instead. Whenever I stood still and had The Boss come to me, I could never seem to hit the R2 button in time to use CQC. The Boss would always end up slamming Snake to the ground and giving him a bone fracture when I did that. And believe you me, that does a ton of damage. It was much easier for me to run towards her and meet her halfway to pull off the move.

If you need a visual aid, check out the footage of my fight with her down below:

Immediately after the CQC attack, run behind the trees, as The Boss will get up and retaliate with the Patriot. When she runs off to hide behind a tree, it’s possible to go to her position and shoot her once with the Mk22 to deal a bit of extra stamina damage.

Finally, do be warned that when The Boss charges at you, unequip your weapon by tapping the right button on the d-pad. Failing to do so will result in The Boss dismantling your weapon, and you’ll need to collect all the parts before you’re able to do so again.

The Boss Rewards

If you manage to defeat The Boss non-lethally, she’ll drop the Snake camo uniform right after the fight. You only have a few seconds to pick this up, so don’t waste any time.

The Snake uniform is one of the best in the game as it gives you a very high camouflage rating no matter what kind of environment you’re in. It’s one of the most versatile uniforms, so it’s well worth the effort.
