HBO’s Harry Potter Has Found its Voldemort & He’ll Be in Several Episodes

Just a couple days after we got our first look at Dominic McLaughlin as HBO’s new Harry Potter, more information about the series has surfaced. This time it’s about his main adversary, Voldemort.

According to a report from Redanian Intelligence, which has since been removed, inside sources say that Voldemort has already been cast for the HBO series. To make things more exciting, the report also stated that Voldemort will appear in “several episodes”. However, HBO has no plans to announce the actor for Voldemort, and instead wants to keep it a surprise until the show makes its debut in 2027.

That’s a pretty damn long time to wait for a casting reveal, which leads us to believe that this is going to be a big announcement. Further, the report also suggested that Seasons 1 and 2 will be filmed back to back, and will have six episodes each. This makes sense, considering that HBO would probably want to maintain some continuity especially as the younger actors grow up and physically change over time.

Who Could Play Voldemort in HBO’s Harry Potter?

Honestly, your guess is as good as mine, but I personally wouldn’t rule out Ralph Fiennes as a possibility. Fiennes played Voldemort in the movies and he’s also previously stated in an interview that he would love to return to the role if the franchise ever got a reboot. So… y’know. Not out of the realm of possibility, right?

In all seriousness, Fiennes seems to genuinely love playing Voldemort and with HBO being so secretive about the casting decision, it’s worth considering.

Other popular fan cast options included Daniel Radcliffe, which is honestly impossible considering he’s openly said he no longer wishes to work with JK Rowling and I assume that includes being involved in any project that has her name attached to it. Matt Berry, Paul Bettany, and even Cillian Murphy are all popular choices too, but I’m still pinning my hopes on Fiennes.

HBO’s Harry Potter is set to debut on HBO Max in 2027.
