We already know that Elden Ring Nightreign is basically a rogue-lite, where your experiences in each run will differ. The question remains, what exactly changes in each run of Elden Ring Nightreign? And what stays the same?
All Constants in Elden Ring Nightreign
First, let’s go over all of the things that won’t change in Elden Ring Nightreign. According to the new info that just came out via IGN First, the general structure and layout of Limveld will remain static, along with a few other things.
- Limveld’s geography will not change.
- Locations for Sites of Grace, Evergaols, launching spirit springs, cave entrances and exits, and spectral trees will not change.
So if you were worried that Elden Ring Nightreign was gonna end up being one of those rogue-lite games where you have to deal with ever-changing layouts when you start a new run, fret not. Limveld should remain largely the same each time.
Everything that Changes in Elden Ring Nightreign
Now, let’s talk about the things that do change.
- Points of interest and their rewards
- Mini-bosses
- Bosses
While the geography of Limveld itself doesn’t change, what you find at each point of interest might be different. You might encounter different enemies or activities, and the rewards you get will also be different.
In addition to that, there are also world events that can shake things up pretty drastically. For instance, you might come across a giant crater one day, and explore it only to find tons of tough enemies waiting to beat the crap out of you.
It’s also possible to get invaded by AI bosses and Nightfarers. For instance, Network Test players are likely familiar with the Margit invasion, where the base game boss dropped into the world and hunted down many a Nightfarer squad. The IGN First preview also described a “swirling tornado-like phenomenon” that spawned AI-controlled Nightfarers who attacked the players, similar to invasions from other FromSoft games.
Finally, there’s also a chance you could run into a boss that fires off bugs at you, which will then de-level you if they actually hit you. This sounds like a complete nightmare as you’d literally lose progress. The only way to get your levels back is by killing the boss.
Elden Ring Nightreign is set to be released for PC and consoles on May 30.
