BALL x PIT’s Free Regal Update to Launch Next Week

BALL x PIT was in my top five games of 2025, so you can only imagine how psyched I am to learn that we’re getting even more content for this game. And for free!

Anyway, Devolver Digital and developer Kenny Sun have just announced that BALL x PIT will be getting its first free major update on Jan. 26. Titled The Regal Update, it’ll come with new characters, balls, passives, and new features based on player feedback since launch. Two new characters were revealed, as listed below:

  • The Carouser: Returning balls orbit around him.
  • The Falconer: Flanked by her two trusted falcons that throw balls.

It was also confirmed that we’ll be getting eight new balls, along with “several new passives”. In addition to that, the developers went on to state that they’ve got “a nice surprise [they] don’t want to spoil just yet”, which honestly sounds very exciting, but we’ll have to wait till the 26th to learn more about what that could be.

BALL x PIT was one of my surprise indie darlings of 2025, and I’ve spent a frankly concerning amount of time just playing this thing and procrastinating. It’s best described as a blend of Pong or Breakout, neatly tied together in a rogue-lite package that also takes its cues from the likes of Loop Hero and Vampire Survivors — which also happen to be two of my favorite rogue-lite games released in the past six years. It’s incredibly simple to pick up, yet you’d be surprised at how much depth it boasts, especially as you start to figure out the fun little synergies and work out your favorite combinations.

BALL x PIT is now available on PC and consoles.
