Ever since the end of Better Call Saul‘s six-season run in 2022, fans have been eagerly waiting for more news on Vince Gilligan’s next project. Well, we’re finally at the point where we actually have concrete details to mull over and discuss so here we go. Here’s everything we know about Pluribus so far.
What Is Pluribus?
Details are still scant on Pluribus, but we do know that it’s a sci-fi TV series — a rather marked departure from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Speaking with Variety back in 2023, Gilligan stated the show has “no crime and no methamphetamine.” The world changes very abruptly in the first episode. It takes place in the modern world, one that we live in and are familiar with, and then the show will dive straight into unfamiliar territory.
Emmy nominee Rhea Seehorn (best known for playing Kim Wexler in Better Call Saul) will star in Pluribus as a woman named Carol. She’s been described as “the most miserable person on Earth” and her job is to “save the world from happiness”.
Considering that the show’s tagline is “Happiness is contagious”, we can make a few educated guesses about where Pluribus is going. Perhaps humans have become addicted to some sort of drug that raises their serotonin levels or makes them feel perpetually happy, to the point where it’s actually detrimental or creating some sort of dysfunctional society. Perhaps humanity has been infected with a happiness virus, and Carol must find a way to save society from itself. Again, details are still scant but it’ll be fun trying to piece together the puzzle as more information becomes available.
When Does Pluribus Release?
Pluribus will release exclusively on Apple TV+ on Nov. 7. Season 1 will premiere with two episodes, and the rest will be released on a weekly basis. Season 1 will also run for nine episodes, with the finale airing on Dec. 26.
In addition to that, the show has already been renewed for a second season.

What Is the Meaning of Pluribus?
“Pluribus” is a Latin word that means “many” or “more than one”, which is why you’ll have noticed it sounds like the English word “plural”. Most folks will likely recognize it as part of the phrase “E Pluribus Unum”, which is the motto of the United States of America. It means “Out of many, one”.
In the context of the motto, it suggests that despite the US being a melting pot of diverse cultures and peoples, everyone comes together as one united front. And in the context of the show, this could take on a more sinister meaning where humanity has become some sort of happiness hive mind.
Pluribus will premiere on Apple TV+ on Nov. 7.
