Dispatch Sells Over 1 Million Copies in 10 Days

Dispatch is a new choice-based narrative game developed by AdHoc Studio, which comprises of many former employees from Telltale Games. It’s an episodic series, with two episodes dropping every week. Within 10 days of its launch, however, Dispatch has already sold one million copies, as announced by the studio on Bluesky.

2 days. 80 million copies sold.Would've been nice.We sold 1 Million in 10 days though.Still pretty good.

Those are pretty damn impressive numbers, especially for a game that’s basically a really well-done visual novel with pretty minimal gameplay. Dispatch follows the story of Robert Robertson, who was originally a beloved vigilante who went by Mecha Man. After his suit gets destroyed, he’s reduced to working in a dispatch office where he answers emergency calls and deploys superheroes to go deal with the threat. Conspiracies and superhero shenanigans aside, Dispatch is really just a workplace/office sitcom that focuses heavily on its fantastic cast of characters and their dynamics.

I wrote previously that I was a huge fan of how slice-of-life the story felt, and I can’t help but hope that it stays this way for majority of the runtime. The voice cast includes some pretty big names including Aaron Paul, Jeffrey Wright, Erin Yvette, Laura Bailey, and more.

We’re already halfway through Dispatch‘s story with four episodes currently out. Episodes 5 and 6 will be available on Nov. 5, and the last two episodes will drop on Nov. 12. So far, the choices you make in the game feel like they could be pretty heavy and consequential, but only time will tell whether they actually come with any overarching consequences. Personally, I’m not really holding out for the hope that my choices will drastically change the outcome of the story, but as long as the journey feels personal to me and my decisions by the time I reach the conclusion, then that’s fine by me.

Dispatch is now available on PC and consoles.
