RACCOIN: Coin Pusher Roguelike Is Going to Ruin My Life

Announced this week, RACCOIN: Coin Pusher Roguelike may not have the most elegant of names, but my goodness I can already tell it’s going to be one of those games that just completely consumes you. Developed by Doraccoon, a three-person dev team based in China, RACCOIN: Coin Pusher Roguelike does what it says on the box. This is a roguelike game (more roguelite than anything, but that’s an argument for another day), you play as a raccoon (and other animals), and you push coins to go for a higher score.

You can check out the announcement trailer down below:

While it might look a little bit weird at first, the concept is simple: your goal is to push out coins through two slots on the left and right into a coin pusher machine. With impeccable timing and precision, you want to push out your coins such that the machine is able to push all of the coins on the bottom platform down into a scoring area. As you get further into a run, the target score gets higher, and you’ll eventually need to make use of various modifiers to help you achieve those goals.

For instance, you can buy special coins to help increase your modifier and score more points, or use chips to create special conditions even after you’ve run out of coins to push. Or maybe you can use prizes to summon a UFO to zap up the coins and help you push them again. As you might expect from your typical roguelite game, there are tons of variables to play around with each run, which means there should be plenty of fun strategies and synergies to discover each time you play.

RACCOIN: Coin Pusher Roguelike is being published by Playstack, who also published Balatro in 2024, another roguelite game with a poker-themed aesthetic that was also dangerously compelling once you got your hands on it. If RACCOIN plays its cards right, it could end up being another roguelite winner and a feather in Playstack’s cap.

RACCOIN: Coin Pusher Roguelike will be getting a playtest on Aug. 18 on Steam. I’ve gotten the chance to check out an early build of the game and so far, it’s looking very promising so far. Look out for an official preview of the game here in the coming days.
