Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Is Getting an Online Mode Called Fox Hunt

Not to be confused with FOXHOUND, the badass organization from the first Metal Gear Solid, Fox Hunt is a new online mode that Konami is working on for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. This mode should feel very familiar to MGS4 fans who loved the Metal Gear Online mode that came with it.

The announcement came by way of Konami’s Press Start livestream, in the first few minutes of the video.

Fox Hunt will pit several characters against each other in a battle of stealth and tactical espionage action. In Metal Gear Online, games could support up to 16 players. There were several modes like regular Team Deathmatch and Deathmatch, but also Stealth Deathmatch, where an alarm would ring if an enemy was close by. There was also a ring that would gradually close in on the arena, forcing players into closer proximity with each other.

I personally really enjoyed Metal Gear Online and would spend hours on it, long after I’d beaten the MGS4 story. Konami stated that Fox Hunt would be pretty different from MGO, and I’m excited to see what sorts of unique game modes they come up for it.

In addition to that, we also got another look at the bonus stuff coming to Delta: Snake Eater. Xbox players will get Snake vs. Bomberman, while PC and PlayStation players get Snake vs. Monkey. The latter is a collaboration with Ape Escape, where Snake basically has to sneak up on various monkeys and grapple them or catch them by surprise. The former is virtually identical, but with the iconic Bomberman mascot instead.

Konami confirmed that Secret Theater mode will be returning in the remake as well. Players will be able to shoot medallions while playing through the base game to unlock new movies. There will also be entirely new movies created specifically for the remake.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is set to be released for PC and consoles on Aug. 28.
