Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake Is Getting a Silent Hill f Collab

Okay, imma be real here. The actual headline here should be that Koei Tecmo is releasing a playable demo for Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake. It’s very exciting. The demo will be released on March 5, just one week ahead of its launch date.

But for me, the ultimate Silent Hill f simp, the big headline is that Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake is getting a collab with Konami’s Silent Hill f. There aren’t a lot of details about this update just yet, aside from the fact that there will be collaboration costumes which will become available for free at a later date. Koei Tecmo has promised to reveal more details about the collaboration over the coming weeks.

I’ve never played a Fatal Frame game myself, but I do know that series has been compared to Silent Hill a fair bit. And with Silent Hill f specifically going for the Japanese teen girl aesthetic, any similarities between them feel even more pronounced. For the collab, I’ll be expecting to see protagonists Mio and Mayu decked out in Hinako’s school uniform from Silent Hill f, and I’d be thrilled to see anything more from Konami’s game show up in this one.

The Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake demo itself will give fans a taste of what this game’s all about. You’ll make use of the iconic Camera Obscura to take photos of demons and damage them in the process, while exploring a haunted village. Any progress made in the demo can also be carried over to the full game when it drops on March 12.

The remake comes with new explorable areas, along with new side stories, and a new ending. It’s widely regarded as the best game in the series, so I’m sure this will be an exciting one for fans and newcomers to check out.

Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake is set to be released for PC and consoles on March 12.
