Unlike its predecessor, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach allows you to have some sort of input when you’re in conversation with other NPCs. I get that choice paralysis is totally a thing though, and you might be worried about picking the wrong answer or being put on the wrong story path, which is where we come in. Here’s a list of all the dialogue options in Death Stranding 2, along with the correct choices and answers to pick.
All Questions and Answers in Death Stranding 2
From my playthrough of Death Stranding 2 so far, there are a total of six instances where Sam will need to make a decision. You could be asked to decide on a course of action, or you might be faced with a quiz and need to answer correctly. I’ll go over all the questions and answers down below, along with the optimal answers for each scenario.
As an overview, here are all the correct answers if you just want the answers themselves. I’ll go over each one in more detail after that.
Question and Choices | Answer |
---|---|
“I’ll do it.” or “I won’t do it.” | I’ll do it. |
Deadman Heartman Lockne Die-Hardman | Die-Hardman. |
Platypus Egg Platypus Embryo Platypus Semen Platypus Larva | Platypus Egg |
Square Block T-Shaped Block L-Shaped Block Z-Shaped Block | L-Shaped Block |
A B C D | B, A, C, D |
Higgs Tomorrow Rainy Fragile | Any |
Fragile’s Job Offer

After the game’s opening scene, Fragile will ask you to help link up Mexico. At this point, you can say you’ll do it, or that you won’t do it. The correct answer here is to say you’ll do it.
If you choose not to do it, the opening cutscene will simply replay until you’re left only with the choice to accept the offer.
Choose a Stand-In for Charlie
When you first meet Charlie, Sam will express his distrust and Charlie will offer to take on the voice of a comrade that Sam is familiar with. The correct answer here is Die-Hardman, and you won’t be able to progress until you pick him.
You can’t pick Heartman because you’ll meet him later on in the game. You can’t pick Deadman because he just died. And you can’t pick Lockne because she’s now fused with Malingen and adding Charlie’s voice to the mix would be confusing.
I get the feeling this choice is a bit of a tongue-in-cheek callback to the fact that Die-Hardman was the de facto tutorial voice in the first game, and Death Stranding 2 is simply teasing us that we’re going to be getting even more Die-Hardman for all the tutorial stuff yet again.
Rainy’s Quiz Answers

As you get further into the game, whenever you go back to the DHV Magellan, there’s a chance Rainy will ambush you with a pop quiz. Unlike the other choices you’ve faced so far in the game, Rainy’s quiz answers actually hold some weight. Getting these questions correct will reward you with some cosmetics and Likes, as listed below:
- Rainy Quiz 1 (Platypus Egg): Rainy Vehicle Decal, 100 Likes
- Rainy Quiz 2 (L-Shaped Block): Tomorrow Vehicle Decal, 200 Likes
- Rainy Quiz 3 (B, A, C, D): Fragile Vehicle Decal, 300 Likes
So yeah, if you wanna make sure you get all the cosmetics available in Death Stranding 2, get these answers correct.
Sam’s Nightmare
At some point when you go back to sleep on the DHV Magellan, Sam will have a nightmare and be forced to choose who he likes best out of four characters. The characters in question are Higgs, Tomorrow, Rainy, and Fragile. There’s no right or wrong answer here and you don’t get any rewards, so just pick whoever you like best.
In my personal opinion, though, the right answer’s gotta be Higgs. No one else even compares, right? Right.
Do Your Choices and Answers Matter in Death Stranding 2?
Aside from Rainy’s quiz questions, I’d say no. Choices are largely inconsequential in Death Stranding 2, so just pick the ones you like, or keep haphazardly guessing until the game railroads you into the canon answer.
Your choices will not affect how the story of Death Stranding 2 plays out, which makes sense, considering this is a Hideo Kojima game so of course he’d want you to experience his bespoke narrative just the way he wants.
